Car Frame (Sling)

Elevator Glossary

The car frame, also known as the sling, is the structural steel framework that surrounds and supports the elevator cabin. It connects the cabin to the guide shoes, the suspension ropes or belt, and the safety gear. The car frame transfers all static and dynamic loads to the guide rails and ensures the cabin remains stable and level during operation. A robust car frame is essential for the structural integrity of any elevator system.
