Center opening elevator doors (also called 2-panel center opening or CO doors) are a type of automatic sliding door where two door panels slide apart simultaneously towards both sides to open from the center. This door configuration offers a wider clear opening compared to side-opening doors of the same overall width, and provides faster door operation cycle times — making them the preferred choice for high-traffic passenger elevators. They are available in single-speed and variable-speed versions.
