Landing Door (Hatch Door)

Elevator Glossary

Landing doors, also called hatch doors or hall doors, are the doors at each floor level of the building that provide access to the elevator car when it is at that level. They are mechanically coupled to the car doors through a door coupler and operated by the car-mounted door operator. Landing doors must remain locked at all times except when the car is present and level at that floor. They are fire-rated and must comply with EN 81-20 structural and safety requirements, including resistance to lateral forces.
