A freight elevator, also called a goods lift, is an elevator designed specifically for transporting goods, cargo, vehicles, or industrial materials between floors rather than passengers. Freight elevators have reinforced cabin structures to withstand heavy loads (typically 500 kg to 10,000 kg or more), heavy-duty door systems, and floor surfaces designed for forklifts or pallet trucks. They comply with EN 81-31 (for accessible goods only lifts) or EN 81-20 for passenger-accessible goods elevators.
