A home lift, also called a private residence lift or residential elevator, is an elevator designed specifically for installation in private dwellings to improve mobility between floors. Home lifts are typically smaller than commercial elevators (load capacity 150–400 kg, speed 0.15–0.3 m/s), may use traction, hydraulic, or pneumatic drive systems, and are designed for aesthetic integration into the home environment. They are governed by EN 81-41 for limited-use limited-access (LULA) elevators or EN 81-20 depending on specifications.
