Scissor Lift

Elevator Glossary

A scissor lift is a type of hydraulic or electro-mechanical work platform that uses a pantograph (scissor) mechanism to raise and lower a platform vertically. While not strictly an elevator in the EN 81-20 sense, scissor lifts are widely used in industrial, warehouse, and construction applications for goods and maintenance access. They are available in stationary and mobile (self-propelled) configurations, with platform heights ranging from 1 to 20 metres and load capacities from 500 to 5,000 kg.
