Group control is the supervisory logic that dispatches two or more elevators serving the same floors as a coordinated bank rather than independently. When a landing call is registered the group controller evaluates every car for position, direction, load and existing commitments, and assigns the one that gives the shortest overall waiting time. Good group control can cut average waiting time by 20 to 30 percent compared with simple collective operation, without adding any hardware to the shaft.
